Lucía Budiño

Lucía Budiño Carril holds a BA in English Language and Literature from the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (2023) and an MA in Comparative Studies in Literature, Art and Thought from Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona (2025). She completed an Erasmus stay at the University of Vienna (Austria) in 2021/2022 and worked as a Language Assistant at a secondary school in Birmingham (UK) during the 2023/2024 academic year.
She is currently developing her doctoral thesis under the supervision of Professors Manuela Palacios González and María Alonso Alonso. Her research project, provisionally titled “Thinking with Water: Atlantic Imaginaries in Contemporary Galician and Irish Literatures”, examines aquatic imaginaries in contemporary Galician and Irish literatures, approaching water as a material entity and epistemological agent that reshapes relations between human and nonhuman bodies within the frameworks of the Blue Humanities, posthumanism, and hydrofeminism.
Her research interests include ecocriticism, Irish studies, cultural studies, and postcolonialism, with a particular focus on literature–environment relations in the Atlantic context..
