Susana Mar\u00eda Jim\u00e9nez Placer<\/strong> es profesora en la Facultade de Filolox\u00eda de la Universidade de Santiago de Compostela donde imparte clases en materias principalmente relacionadas con la literatura, historia y cultura de los Estados Unidos de Am\u00e9rica. Su tesis doctoral se centr\u00f3 en el estudio de los relatos mexicanos de la escritora estadounidense Katherine Anne Porter, tem\u00e1tica sobre la que ha publicado un libro: Katherine Anne Porter y la revoluci\u00f3n mexicana: de la fascinaci\u00f3n al desencanto<\/em> (2004). A lo largo de los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os ha participado en diversos proyectos de investigaci\u00f3n centrados en distintos aspectos de la cultura y la producci\u00f3n literaria del Sur de los Estados Unidos, tales como el papel del espacio dom\u00e9stico en obras escritas por autoras sure\u00f1as, las manifestaciones literarias del Movimiento por los Derechos Civiles, la contribuci\u00f3n de la producci\u00f3n autobiogr\u00e1fica en la construcci\u00f3n de una identidad sure\u00f1a o la relaci\u00f3n entre raza y corporeidad en la tradici\u00f3n literaria del Sur de los EE. UU. En la actualidad es miembro del grupo de investigaci\u00f3n \u201cDiscurso e identidad\u201d en la propia Universidade de Santiago de Compostela. Adem\u00e1s de haber presentado contribuciones en un abundante n\u00famero de congresos, ha publicado art\u00edculos y cap\u00edtulos de libro sobre las tem\u00e1ticas indicadas m\u00e1s arriba y ha editado junto a Carmen Rueda Ramos un volumen centrado en la producci\u00f3n literaria autobiogr\u00e1fica en el Sur de los Estados Unidos: Essays on Southern Life-Writing<\/em> (2017). Sus publicaciones m\u00e1s recientes estudian el tratamiento de cuestiones de g\u00e9nero y raza en la esfera dom\u00e9stica sure\u00f1a en el per\u00edodo de segregaci\u00f3n tanto en obras de ficci\u00f3n como en relatos autobiogr\u00e1ficos escritos por autoras de esta regi\u00f3n.
