In 2002 she defended her Doctoral Dissertation (distinction cum laude) and in 2008 she became a Senior Lecturer in English Philology. Current research interests focus on two main areas: the historical, social, and cultural aspects of late medieval England analysing evidence from historical and literary sources (including English medieval theatre, based on her PhD thesis on the York Cycle) and their representation in film, television, and literary fiction. These interests align with a long-standing teaching career increasingly specialized in historical, literary, and cultural subjects. Another area of expertise concerns the historical and mythological figure of King Richard III in English culture, literature and in audiovisual media and historical fiction. For this purpose, she was awarded a Salvador de Madariaga Research Fellowship by the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science to fund the project entitled Adaptations and Reinterpretations of the Historical Figure of King Richard III in Recent British Television Series and Literature: History, Fiction and Mythology (academic year 2017–2018). To carry out this research, she was appointed Honorary Visiting Professor by the School of Arts at the University of Leicester (UK). In this regard, she served as a historical consultant for the theatrical production “Mala vida e pior morte do rei Ricardo III” (Evaristo Calvo et al., dirs., 2025) and is the author of the historical fiction trilogy Hijos de York (2023). Mourón Figueroa has widely participated in international specialised conferences, networks and research projects and has contributed largely to knowledge transfer through a significant number of talks, lectures, and seminars. She has also undertaken administrative and management tasks related to her Department and to the organisation of international conferences. She was the Head of the Department of English and German Philology (USC) between 2012 and 2016 and is a member of the scientific and cultural organisations such as The Richard III Society, SELIM and The International Arthurian Society – Rama Hispánica.

@: cristina.mouron@usc.es

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text disabled_on=”on|on|on” _builder_version=”4.24.0″ _module_preset=”default” text_font=”Montserrat||||||||” min_height=”166px” custom_margin=”1px|||||” custom_padding=”|95px||||” disabled=”on” inline_fonts=”Montserrat” global_colors_info=”{}”]

Cristina Mourón Figueroa comezou como profesora no Departamento de Filoloxía Inglesa e Alemá da Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (USC) en 1998.
